This road trip takes you through some of Tenerife’s most beautiful and diverse landscapes.
Starting in the fishing village San Andrés, our first destination is Macizo de Anaga. This mountain range is home to many Canary legends and offers stunning views of the coast and sea, while driving through mountains and laurel forests. There are many viewpoints "miradores" on the way, like El Bailadero, which invite you to take a break and enjoy the picturesque landscape.
Our next destination takes us back down to sea level. We pass through San Cristóbal de La Laguna and get closer and closer to the sea, until we reach Playa El Bollullo. Some locals say that this typical black lava sand beach is one of Tenerife’s best all-natural beaches.
From the beach, back up into the mountains! This time, it’s the national park which belongs to Spain’s highest mountain: the Teide. The landscape changes from forested to wide open grass and bushlands as we drive along, and once again, Tenerife’s amazing landscape lies stretched out at our feet, to admire.
As we lose altitude on our way back to San Andrés, the landscape gets woodier. We pass through Santa Cruz de Tenerife, following the coast line. As a perfect ending to today’s diversified road trip, we drive to Playa de Las Teresitas, which is located just north of San Andrés. In contrast to El Bollullo, this beach is shiny white, due to Sahara sand which was brought here.
Tenerife is the largest member of the Canary Islands. The island is varied, impressive and contrasts rich. Rocky cliffs and deep gullies, colorful surroundings and romantic bays alternate.
